Texas Gulf Coast
Live on a boat? Or have a affordable place on the coast
Subtract 5 years (or more) from that retirement date. No matter your age, maybe do it now. Or, buy or rent a place on the coast at a fraction of the cost of a condo or beach house. Let’s discuss it!
Other places are getting expensive!
And for our boating friends from, say, Florida (or California?), welcome! The Texas coast right now has some of the most cost-effective slips on the Gulf. Compare costs and amenities. We’ll look forward to hearing from you!

Dark Sky Communities, magnificent landscapes, stark deserts, amazing plant and animal life!
We’re looking at some properties between Terlingua and Alpine, as well as some closer to Fort Davis. These could be sold for homesites eventually (off-grid or otherwise) but could possibly be used for RV boondocking or other rural camping (like here) in the meantime. Working on it!
Central/Northwest Arkansas
This area, Hot Springs and northwest, is one of the great beauty for the dollar areas in the country. Hot Springs itself is a great fun town, relaxed, small, but as a resort area still has much to do and new people to meet all the time.
VRBO CURRENTLY RENTED:
Large 4/3 in the Hot Springs Historical District (Prospect Ave.)Toledo Bend Reservoir
Toledo Bend is a huge lake, with over 1200 miles of shoreline. This area is still affordable, with nice, multi-acre lakefront lots for a few $100K (e.g., see Toledo Bend Lake Real Estate).
For retirees, the Louisiana side may be better from a property tax perspective, but there are great deals all around this amazing reservoir.
